Police at the scene of the gun raid in Queenslie Street, in the north east of Glasgow, that left one man seriously injured A CACHE of guns was stolen from a house after three men armed with blades left another seriously injured, an underworld source has revealed.

Armed thugs forced their way into a house in the Blackhill area of Glasgow at about 4.30pm on December 2.

According to the source, up to six guns were stolen by the trio after they burst into the house in Queenslie Street in the north-east of the city.

The house had been used to hide the arms by a rival mob.

The source said: “Somebody has obviously opened their mouth about these being stashed and this mob have found out.

“The word on the street is that there were guns in the house and they knew what they were looking for.”

A 32-year-old man was seriously assaulted within the property and taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

His condition was later described as serious. Two of the attackers have been described as about 5ft 3in tall and of skinny build.

One was said to be dressed in dark clothing with a hood up, the other wore a grey hoodie.

It’s thought that a hatchback car may have been used in the raid, possibly a dark-coloured Volkswagen Golf or Ford Focus.

A car, thought to be a Ford Focus, was later found burnt out in Gilbertfield Street, Ruchazie.

Police linked the incident to two other bloody attacks on consecutive days in the Balornock area that weekend.

The first was on November 30 in Dykemuir Street, when a 38-year-old man was seriously injured after being attacked by three men armed with blades.

A white car and a silver or grey van are thought to have been used in what police have described as a targeted attack. The following day, in nearby Red Road, three men armed with knives seriously assaulted a 53-year-old man.

Both victims were treated in hospital for their injuries but later released.

In the aftermath of the attacks, DI Jim Bradley, said: “We believe the incidents are linked and the attacks on the three men were targeted. This type of mindless violence will not be tolerated and a dedicated team of officers are working to establish the full circumstances and trace the individuals responsible.

“We need the support of people in the north of Glasgow to find answers and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed any of the incidents to come forward.”

Police Scotland said inquiries into the incidents were ongoing but refused to be drawn into speculation on any motive for the incident in Blackhill.

Dykemuir Street was also the scene of a bloody attempted murder earlier this year.

William Barclay, 26, was seriously injured after being shot at and then attacked with blades in February.

He had just left family members after getting out of a car when he was targeted in a “violent and sustained”

attack.

Barclay had been accused of attempting to murder Mark Bristow in Royston Road in May 2015.

The victim was left paralysed after being run over by a Mitsubishi 4x4 and then shot in the leg at point blank range.

Barclay walked free from the High Court in Edinburgh after the jury returned a not proven verdict.
