Warriors suffer Euro injury woe
BY DAVID KELSO GLASGOW have been rocked by a double injury blow ahead of their Euro showdown with Cardiff Blues.
Scotland pair Pete Horne and Jonny Gray have been ruled out of tomorrow’s tussle at Scotstoun.
Warriors are looking for the win that would almost certainly clinch a place in the Champions Cup knock-out stages.
Boss Dave Rennie said: “Jonny hurt himself a few weeks ago and we thought he’d be okay but there was a niggle – he should be fine for Saracens next weekend.
“Pete would have played at stand-off but the knee problem picked up against Edinburgh hasn’t cleared. He couldn’t get going at training on Tuesday and had a scan to make sure there was nothing sinister.
“It will be about two weeks before he is back, so there shouldn’t be a worry over any Six Nations involvement.”
With Adam Hastings dropping to the bench, Rennie has turned to Brandon Thomson to fill the No.10 slot.
The coach said: “The last three weeks have been disappointing but there’s no sense of panic. We need to be sharper and know this is a massive game.”
Rennie has also heaped praise on milestone men Rob Harley and Ryan Wilson.
Harley becomes the first player to notch 200 appearances for the Warriors this weekend while co-skipper Wilson reaches the 150 mark.
Rennie said: “Rob and Ryan are bloody good men who are passionate about this club. It will be a special day.”
