RYAN SIGNS AND VOWS TO BRING SUNSHINE TO LEITH

-

RYAN GAULD has vowed to give everything to Hibs during his loan spell – even learn the words to fans’ anthem Sunshine on Leith.

The Sporting Lisbon midfielder finally sealed his switch to Easter Road last night after being tracked by gaffer Neil Lennon.

He has been in Dubai with his new team-mates at a winter camp but couldn’t take part in their 1-0 friendly win over Al Wasl as he waited on international clearance.

Gauld’s move was confirmed afterwards and he insisted the time was right to leave Portugal after being loaned out three times since signing for Sporting in 2014.

But the former Dundee United kid is convinced he can kickstart his career in Leith and has told supporters he’s fully committed to helping them climb the table.

Gauld said: “I felt like it was the right time to come back to Scotland and it’s the first time since I left that I’ve felt that.

“Hibs represented the best opportunity for me with the way the team likes to play. It’s the best fit for me.

“In the last couple of years Hibs have taken on a lot of young boys and given them a platform to show what they can do.

“I’m willing to work hard for the team, give everything I’ve got and hopefully learn the words to Sunshine on Leith!”

Boss Lennon is delighted to land the 23-year-old until the end of the season.

The Hibees gaffer said: “Ryan looks to be coming back as a more-rounded player.

“His knowledge of the Scottish game will stand him in good stead and I hope he’ll be able to hit the ground running. He’s better equipped than he was at 17.

“Tactically Ryan’s very flexible. He can play on the right, the left or off the striker.”

Florian Kamberi was credited with the only goal yesterday in a 1-0 win over local side Al Wasl.

The striker made the difference six minutes from half-time to give the small scattering of Hibs fans a win to cheer.

The Swiss ace appeared to get the slightest final touch on a Paul Hanlon header in the six-yard box.
