WEAH WILL BE A SUPERSTAR

-

FROM BACK PAGE as Scotland’s champions chase down an eighth successive domestic title and a place in the last 16 of the Europa League.

Neymar told Record Sport: “It’s a very exciting move for him. From what I have seen of his talent he has everything to go and be one of the top attacking players in Europe.

“It’s a good move for him, a good move for Celtic as they’re getting such a big talent and also good for PSG because he has a chance to get experience and games and come back a more complete player.

“He had options – but he chose the right one. Celtic are a big club, in their league they attack a lot and score a lot of goals, and they are still in Europe, so they offer him much.”

Weah has been waiting patiently for first-team football at PSG behind the regular trio of Neymar, Edinson Cavani and World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe.

But Neymar believes the youngster, son of AC Milan great George, is also smart enough to learn from the best.

He said: “He has the talent, we know that, but he also has a great attitude.

“From the first day I met him he has wanted to learn off the players who have already won the major trophies, from the players who have already achieved big things in the game.

“He’s a fun guy to be around – but he is also very humble and that’s what you want to see from a young player. It’s what a coach wants to see because it means they want to learn.

“His father is one of the greatest strikers there has been but he doesn’t feel the pressure of having the name and I respect that.

“He just has confidence in his own ability and in his own game and that was how I was at his age.”

Weah revealed in September last year how Neymar had taken the teen striker under his wing.

The Celtic new boy said: “Neymar was my idol a few years ago and now he is one of my closest friends on the team, he even invited me to come to Brazil.

“To see that from such a high-level player, a guy that I look up to, and he is now inviting me to Brazil himself, we are chilling together. It’s great.”

Meanwhile, Mikael Lustig has reiterated his desire to stay at Celtic.

The Swedish right-back is ignoring a host of potential options as he sets his sights on an extended period at Parkhead.

Lustig, 32, said: “I have a contract with Celtic and hope to extend this. The ball is with them. If they want me to continue then I’ll stay here.

“If nothing happens then we’ll see. Nothing is clear that we should move back to Sweden, so then it might as well be something else abroad. I hope to remain at Celtic.”

The Hoops are in the market for a right-back but have had little luck so far.

Belgian international Timothy Castagne was a top target but Atalanta’s £10m asking price and the player’s wish to stay in Serie A or go to Germany or England has ruined hopes of landing him.

Norwegian Omar Elabdellaoui is also on the list but Olympiakos appear to have destroyed that option as well.

Coach Pedro Martins is hell-bent against selling any players during this window as he pushes for the Greek title and the club have placed a whopping £8m price tag on his head.

Lustig, though, remains in top slot with just over a fortnight of the transfer window to go and is looking forward to the remainder of the campaign.
