APRIL 2 Alex Salmond informs Nicola Sturgeon that he is being investigat­ed by the Scottish Government during a face-to-face meeting at the First Minister’s house in Glasgow. Sturgeon’s chief of staff Liz Lloyd – a Government employee – is present. The meeting had been set up after an intermedia­ry for Salmond requested it through Lloyd.

APRIL 23 Salmond tells Sturgeon he is on the brink of taking legal action against her Government in a phone call.

JUNE 6 Sturgeon writes to Permanent Secretary Leslie Evans to tell her she is aware of the sexual harassment investigat­ion and has discussed it with Salmond. She also informs Evans about the imminent legal action.

JUNE 7 Salmond and Sturgeon meet face to face on the eve of the SNP conference in Aberdeen.

JULY 14 A third meeting takes place, in Sturgeon’s Glasgow home.

JULY 18 A final call takes place between Sturgeon and Salmond.
