We should celebrate every line

-

CLAIRE says women are under so much pressure to look younger – but she thinks every wrinkle should be celebrated.

She said. “We’re under so much pressure. When you look at magazines and on TV, every second advert is for creams to smooth out wrinkles – you’re made to think you’re not perfect.”

Claire, 52, lives in Bishopbriggs with husband Frank, 50. The former teacher is now a part-time baker and also makes costumes and hair accessories through her business Vintage Bridal Boutique.

The couple have two daughters, Hannah, 24, who’s a personal trainer and member of the Scottish Rockettes and Hayley, 21, who works in insurance.

Claire said: “I’d hate to be my daughters’ age now – they’re under so much pressure to Photoshop pictures to look perfect. They’re beautiful. I want them to grow old gracefully as well with a bit of life experience etched on their face.

“We’re meant to get old – that’s part of living. The lines we have should be celebrated.

“They’re all earned through emotion and experience of day to day living.

“That should be celebrated. You can read a lot about another person by the expressions they make.”

Claire is happy with the way she looks. She used to feel self-conscious about her freckles and wanted them to disappear.

“It must have been a day I was moaning and my husband said, ‘A face without freckles is like the sky without stars’. Now, I look forward to the sun coming out and I get freckles and I feel wonderful and young.” ● http://VBBoutique.com
