Rice takes positives from Accies thumping

- BY EUAN McLEAN

BRIAN RICE says he was inspired watching his Hamilton side take a 5-0 thumping from Rangers.

The Accies boss refused to be downtrodden by the ruthless beating his men took in front of their own fans on Sunday.

Now with another tough test ahead in Aberdeen tomorrow defiant Rice says he’ll still send his players out to attack as he did with a positive line-up, mercilessly taken apart by Gers in a torrid first half.

And he urged his players to follow his glass is half full example by stepping out at Pittodrie ready to throw themselves at the Dons.

Rice said: “Obviously I reflected on it all night but I’ll tell you what I woke up on Monday morning refreshed and ready to go.

“I was inspired by what I saw from Rangers. I went home and watched the game and looked at things Rangers did and thought, ‘Wow, that’s good, I like that’.

“I studied their movement and the problems it caused us. So I was really inspired by looking at it.

“I was looking at what we did wrong a lot but just looking at how they went about it and if we can get any part of that it’s progress.

“I would need to work on that for months and months with my players to emulate that but I’m looking to the future. If we work and work and work and we get to a fraction of that I’ll be pleased.

“So I woke up thinking, ‘Right let’s go, how can we set up against Aberdeen?’

“The result doesn’t change my thinking, I’m not going to go and sit in.

“Every place is a tough place to go but what is the best form of defence? Attack.”
