No time to be Buddie buddy with Livingston

- BY GRAEME MacPHERSON

GREG TANSEY admits Saturday’s clash with Livingston has become a “must win” for St Mirren.

Draws in their last two games away to Aberdeen then Hearts have handed Saints a lifeline in their battle to avoid the drop.

But they still trail both Dundee and Hamilton by four points and Buddies midfielder Tansey knows they need to start turning draws into wins.

He said: “It’s a massive game now against Livi and it’s simple – it’s one we must win. We’ve got to take this momentum and go and beat Livi. It’s that simple.

“Against Hearts we had more than enough chances to win it. We could have had three or four goals.

“In the dressing room the boys were disgruntled and it was the same against Aberdeen. The fans were happy with a point on Saturday but we weren’t. Next time we want all three.”

Saints brought in so many players in January that Tansey admitted he struggled to remember his new team-mates’ names.

But he believes the squad has now settled down and shown what they can do.

He said: “It was a bit of a joke, with that much of a changeover you don’t know each other’s names well.

“You had to check what someone’s name was before you asked for a ball!

“It’s a lot better now. The gaffer worked us hard with double sessions and in the gym. You see the difference.”
