FASCIST’S ROBINSON SUPPORT BLASTED

Activist in bid to reverse media ban

- BY STEPHEN STEWART s.stewart@dailyrecord.co.uk

A SCOTS fascist has been slammed for his campaign to get far-right activist Tommy Robinson back on social media.

Jim Dowson – former second-in-command of the British National Party – aims to get Robinson back on Facebook and Instagram following a permanent ban.

Dowson, from Airdrie, has links to loyalist paramilitaries and is an anti-abortion militant.

His Knights Templar International (KTI) group – which glorifies the medieval Crusades – posted a petition which read: “On Tuesday February 26 at noon, tech giants Facebook took down the Facebook and Instagram pages of British activist Tommy Robinson with over one million followers.”

Dowson said Facebook claimed this was in response to “organised hate, using dehumanising language and calls for violence targeted at Muslims”.

He added: “This is not true and once again we see the PC brigade, establishment traitors and far-left activists all jumping to defend the corrupt and evil BBC.”

Robinson, whose real name is Stephen YaxleyLennon, is founder of the English Defence League.

Dowson, who leapt to support him, was kicked out of Hungary in 2017 as a major player in a rightwing movement who aimed to halt refugees coming into the country using armed militias.

Dowson maintains KTI is not racist. He said: “We even have Filipinos who are members.”

Edinburgh MP Ian Murray said: “We can’t allow these racists and fascists to infect our open and tolerant Scottish society.”

Show Racism The Red Card Scotland said that as someone who continually used social media to spread misinformation and intolerance, it was not surprising Dowson is against Facebook banning Robinson’s pages.

When contacted by the Record, Dowson said: “I have no official position with KTI. I don’t know anything about this petition.” He then became abusive so the call was ended.

Last night, YouTube was under pressure to follow Facebook in banning Robinson. It is the last big online space the 36-year-old is able to post on and he has more than 300,000 subscribers. MP Damian Collins, chairman of the digital, culture, media and sport committee, said: “I believe YouTube should also ban Tommy Robinson from their platform.” Meanwhile, the controversial leader of a veterans group which targeted Scotland has also been banned from Facebook – two years after the Record revealed his disturbing comments about Islam.

Richard Inman was purged from the site but we can reveal that Inman – who dubbed Islam the “Anti-Christ” – has popped up again on Facebook.

He has posted videos claiming he has been targeted by “Fascist book” and scapegoated by far-left activists in the media.
