Accies boss’s joy as his troops ease drop woes

SCOTT BURNS AT PITTODRIE his cross found Connor McLennan, who squared for Graeme Shinnie but he was denied by the feet of keeper Gary Woods.

The pace of Miller caused Dons another headache as he cut inside Considine and forced Joe Lewis to stand tall and push the ball away.

Aberdeen had an equally close call at the other end.

McGinn hit the line down the left and crossed for Stewart, who beat Woods but his header came back off the far post and out.

Accies stunned the Pittodrie crowd in the 34th minute with a moment of absolute brilliance.

Darian MacKinnon chipped a ball into the box and Oakley all too easily got inside Considine and from an almost impossible angle, just about on the goal line, he looped the ball over Lewis and watched in delight as it dropped in at the far post.

Aberdeen had chances but Sam Cosgrove shot over before Considine headed straight at Woods.

The Accies No.1 then produced a great save in the final minute to tip away Cosgrove’s netbound header.

The Dons returned after the break with a point to prove. McGinn’s lifted cross was headed back by Considine for Cosgrove but his shot was blocked by Delphin Tshiembe.

But it was Accies who shocked the sloppy Dons as Oakley found Lennard Sowah, who burst up the left and picked out Miller with a low cross which was fired low into the net on the hour.

Dons boss Derek McInnes had never lost at home to Accies but his side have won just one game in the last seven at Pittodrie.

He said: “The two goals we lost were really disappointing.

“We can’t set out to achieve what we want to achieve if our home form is not good. It has to improve if we are to succeed this season.”
