Lennon also confirmed that he could have been given a caretaker’s role at Leicester had Rodgers stayed in Scotland until the end of the season.
During a frantic 48 hours over the weekend Lennon was contacted by director of football Jon Rudkin and sounded out over the prospect of accepting a short term gig there.
Lennon said: “Yeah and the then the whole thing just flipped.
“I spoke briefly to Jon Rudkin but only a five minute chat with him. He said he was bearing me in mind if they were thinking of an interim but already by that stage they wanted a permanent manager in.”
