We can go distance vows Del

- BY SCOTT BURNS

DEREK McINNES last night insisted Ibrox will hold no fear for Aberdeen having already beaten Rangers twice in Glasgow this term.

The Dons will travel south a week tomorrow for their Scottish Cup quarterfinal replay after yesterday’s showdown ended 1-1.

Aberdeen won at Ibrox in December just three days after losing the Betfred Cup Final – a showpiece they reached after beating Gers at Hampden.

McInnes said: “It doesn’t matter to me that we have to go Glasgow. We’ve won there already this season and our away record is very good. We’ll be alive and kicking for the replay.

“The evidence is there and the players don’t need reminding of that.

“Whenever you play Rangers home or away it is tough. They’ve spent a lot of money and assembled a good side but it is important we go down there and show the belief we showed today.”

Aberdeen will have to do so without 18-goal Sam Cosgrove after his second yellow of the competition.

McInnes reckons his Dons “nullified” a Gers threat that had led to 14 goals in three games.

He said: “We were well worth our lead and could’ve had a second with Scott McKenna hitting the bar.

“We contained a good Rangers team. Sam was blocked off by Lewis Ferguson and we were disappointed to lose a goal from a low ball at a corner. But we reacted well.

“We’re disappointed not to win from a winning position but there was plenty of effort.”
