We dumped Gers before and we can do it again
BY ANTHONY HAGGERTY ABERDEEN ace Lewis Ferguson insists boss Derek McInnes has convinced his men they can do a job on Rangers at Ibrox again.
Midfielder Ferguson revealed the Reds were disappointed to come away with just a 1-1 draw in Sunday’s Scottish Cup quarter-final at Pittodrie.
The 19-year-old is well aware McInnes’s men will be rated as underdogs with the bookies in the replay at Ibrox a week today.
But Ferguson, who bagged the winner against Steven Gerrard’s side in the League Cup semi-final at Hampden in October, believes the Reds can travel to Govan in fine fettle having also defeated Rangers in the Premiership in December.
He said: “The gaffer said after the game we’ve been to Ibrox before and beat them so there’s no reason why we can’t do it again.
“Overall it was a good performance but we are disappointed we’re not in the next round yet.
“A clean sheet would have been enough to see us through. We are disappointed but we’ll go there full of confidence.
“We played well but it wasn’t a game of quality and it was scrappy.
“That’s just the sort of game it is sometimes when Rangers come up here. We did that side of the game excellently and the likes of Scott McKenna and Andy Considine kept Alfredo Morelos very quiet.”
