£10,000 to catch slain dad’s killer
Reward after cops hit by wall of silence
BY STEPHEN STEWART A £10,000 reward is being offered to help snare the gangland killers of Kenny Reilly a year after his murder.
The sum was put up after police inquiries were hit by a wall of silence from locals.
Dad Kenny, 29, died after being targeted by a masked gunman in April last year.
Crimestoppers has now offered the reward for information leading to the conviction of his attackers.
Police went to the crime scene yesterday to re-appeal for information.
Detective Inspector Alan McAlpine said: “There hasn’t been a great level of information. We are sure someone must know something that would help.
“Kenny was known to police but we won’t confirm what he was involved in. His lifestyle may mean people do not want to speak out.”
In February, it emerged Kenny clashed with a rival mob 24 hours before his killer shot him in the head.
He was sitting in the passenger seat of a silver BMW at the junction of Maryhill Road and Bilsland Drive in Glasgow at 10.20pm on Monday, April 16, last year. A black Ford S-Max pulled up and a passenger wearing a black balaclava got out and shot him. He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary but died a few days later.
The S-Max, which was stolen the previous month from the Giffnock area was found burnt out in Craigieburn Gardens, Maryhill.
Detective Chief Inspector Stevie Wallace, of the Major Investigation Teams, said: “We need to speak to anyone who has any information about who is responsible. Please don’t think the information you hold is insignificant.”
Cops also want info on a blue Volkswagen Polo, with false plates RE57 EUU, seen near Kenny’s home in Maryhill Road, being driven towards Craigieburn Gardens at 9.30-9.40pm on the night of the shooting.
