Masked vandal attacks cars in village

Local John Hurley’s Renault Megane Scenic was attacked by the mystery woman. The 73-year-old, who fears his car could be a write-off due to the damage, said: “It’s devastating to think there are people in our community who could do this.”
A neighbour, whose Land Rover Freelander was targeted, captured the pair on their home CCTV system.
The victim said: “Our security cameras showed at least two people involved in the attack on our vehicle and property.
“One was a stout, bald middle-aged man wearing glasses, accompanied by a tallish middle-aged woman who was wearing a devil’s mask, black curly wig, a poncho and boots with a distinctive thick white sole.
“She proceeded to throw acid all over our black Freelander.
“A wig and devil’s mask was later recovered along with an acid bottle cap, which was handed to the police.”
Another resident captured CCTV footage of a young man wearing a Village sign hoodie and scarf who hurled acid over their vehicle in St Briavels, Gloucestershire, which has a population of just 1000. The villager said: “It would appear these are copycat attacks carried out by a small group of people. “My wife or I could have easily disturbed them and been seriously injured or maimed for life.” Gloucestershire Police are investigating the attacks, which have happened over a period of 18 months.
