Lee’s season is saved but not his future

-

RANGERS defender Lee Hodson thanked the club’s medical staff for saving his season – then admitted he doesn’t know if he’ll play for the Ibrox side again.

The St Mirren loanee had feared his campaign was over when he was stretchered off with ruptured ankle ligaments against Celtic in January.

But Rangers physios were able to get him back to fitness quicker than expected allowing Hodson to play a part in Saints’ battle against relegation.

The 27-year-old’s contract is up in the summer and he admits he’ll need to wait until then to see where his future lies.

He said: “When I first got my injury we thought that was my season over.

“But I was able to heal a lot quicker than expected thanks largely to the physios at Rangers, especially Steve Walker who did my rehab with me, the doctor and the rest of the medical staff.

“They were all brilliant with me. And now I’m in good hands back at St Mirren with the physio, Alex MacQueen.

“I’m delighted to be back on the training pitch with the lads and looking to play a part in keeping St Mirren in the league if we can.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen with Rangers after that.

“I’m out of contract in the summer so when the season ends I can see where my future lies.

“It’s early days and some clubs don’t know what league they’re going to be playing in. I’m only focusing on getting back playing again and doing a job for St Mirren.”

Hodson revealed there had been so much blood flowing around his torn ligament that it ended up acting like glue.

He added: “Where I ruptured my ligament it came away from the bone. Normally that needs reattaching with an operation and in that case my season would definitely have been over.

“But the physios said there was so much blood around my ankle that it worked almost like glue, so that was a bit of luck.”
