The Doctor Foster star opted for a splash of colour in a pink tuxedo-style gown with black cape detail. BY MARK JEFFERIES BBC drama Killing Eve murdered the competition to triumph at the Bafta TV Awards last night.

Jodie Comer, 26, who plays psychopathic assassin Villanelle in the hit series, took home the best actress gong.

Fiona Shaw, 60, nabbed the supporting actress award for her part as MI6 legend Carolyn Martens in the show.

Killing Eve also won the best drama series prize.

Jodie wept as she accepted her statue. She said: “Thank you so much. Sorry, I’m the only one who’s turned on the waterworks.”

Paying tribute to the show’s writer, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, 33, the Liverpudlian said: “Phoebe, I feel so lucky to say I worked with you, also to call you a friend. You’re the most talented person I know.”

Jodie’s co-star Fiona said her role in Killing Eve had been “probably the greatest pleasure of my life”.

Phoebe praised her “charismatic, breathtaking, energetic team”.

“I can’t speak, it’s so unbelievably exciting. Thanks for everyone for taking risks. Jodie Comer almost swallowed a wasp in Tuscany. It was a really edgy moment that we did capture on camera,” she added.

Declan Donnelly, 43, was also a big winner, picking up several prizes as his co-host Anthony McPartlin, 43, joined him on the red carpet for the first time since his off-screen troubles. Dec and Holly Willoughby, 38, bagged the gong for reality show for I’m a Celebrity.

Ant and Dec took to the mic as a duo to accept the entertainment programme award for Britain’s Got Talent.

Accepting the award for I’m a Celebrity, Dec said: “Thank you Bafta and ITV for your continued support.

“This goes to a very hard and dedicated production team.

“I would like to say thank you to Holly for helping me out last year, standing in for Ant, who has reluctantly come up here tonight. He is still part of the team. This is a wonderful surprise.”

Backstage, Dec added: “To still be winning awards is testament to the team. Holly came in and did a fantastic job.

“It means a huge amount as it was a tough year personally and professionally. I went out and tried to do my best and keep the shows warm for him (Ant) until he was ready to come back. I tried to deliver as best I could.”

Ant, who was on the red carpet for the first time since his drink-driving shame last year, said: “It is nice to be back.”

There was also a big win for BBC drama show Bodyguard, which starred Scot Richard Madden. It won the must-see moment prize.

Louis Theoroux won the award for best factual series, EastEnders was named best soap and Who Do You Think You Are? won the features prize.

The ceremony, at the Royal Festival Hall in London, was hosted by Graham Norton, who poked fun at several BBC scandals in his opening monologue.

Mocking Danny Baker’s dismissal from the BBC for an offensive royal baby tweet, Norton compared it to the Great British Bake Off.

He added: “Every week, a baker gets kicked out. This week, it was Danny.”

Praising Line of Duty, he referenced the Seann Walsh Strictly scandal where he cheated on his girlfriend with dancer Katya Jones.

Norton said of Line of Duty: “The interviews are incredible. A more forensically detailed interrogation of times, dates and mobile phone data has not been seen since that time Seann Walsh got home from Strictly practice.”
