We’ll Mark our territory in Tayside by going up

- BY SCOTT BURNS

MARK REYNOLDS insists Premiership play-off success for Dundee United would really unite the Tannadice outfit again.

The Taysiders, who finished second in the Championship, kick-off their play-off assault tomorrow night at Inverness and then have the home return on Friday.

There had been a disconnect at Tannadice since United were relegated three years ago.

But the purchase of the club by American owner Mark Ogren earlier this season has helped breathe new life into them.

And Reynolds knows the fans, players and staff are all behind their goal of getting the club back to the big time in the top tier.

Reynolds said: “I have a few seasons left and I feel they can be successful at Dundee United.

“We want to get promotion then push for the top six then Europe and while we are doing that we can try to win trophies, which is the ultimate for any team in Scotland.

“The right foundations have been laid.

“The manager and Tony Asghar has come in with the new owners and they are spending money in the right way.

“They have laid the foundations for the club to be successful and it would be huge for the city if we could get up.

“You see how much it would mean to them to be the dominant team in Dundee again and have the bragging rights.

“We want to be the team that gives them that and to be the only Dundee team in the Premiership. We received a video from our fans. The overwhelming thing is that we all want Dundee United back to where they belong.”
