We need to Ofir a lot more

-

OFIR MARCIANO admitted Hibs’ lacklustre display at Rugby Park came nowhere near the standards they have set since boss Paul Heckingbottom’s arrival.

And the goalie insisted his team has to get its act together ahead of the final game of the season against Aberdeen next week.

The Israeli keeper was one of the few visitors to gain pass marks as Hibs went down 1-0 against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

And despite making one of the saves of the season from Gary Dicker moments before Eamonn Brophy netted the only goal from the spot, Marciano left Ayrshire frustrated with his side’s show.

He said: “It doesn’t matter if we are chasing Europe or not, we always have something to play for.

“We know we can do better, regardless of result.

“We play for ourselves and we try to do the best that we can. We represent a massive club with a lot of fans, so it is important for us they can come to our last game of the season next week and enjoy it and feel proud of us.

“We can’t let ourselves be flat like this.”

Marciano believes Hibs should be challenging for a top-four place every season and is adamant they can’t afford to stand still if they are to improve next season.

He said: “With the size of this club, we always need to be in the top four. But this season so many things have happened. We have done really well in the last three months to get to the place that we are in now.

“But if you are a footballer then it is one of the most risky things to feel you are in a safe place.”
