Gord eyes creme de la Prem

GORDON MOFFAT admits the prospect of Rossvale playing Premiership football next term is what dreams are made of.

A 4-0 win over Neilston means two wins in Vale’s final two games will guarantee back-to-back promotions.

That would see them join Glencairn and Benburb after a 6-2 rout over Dalry saw the Glens lift the Championship crown on goal difference.

Moffat’s men are a point behind Cumbernauld United, who travel to St Roch’s, while they face Dalry then Kello.

The Vale boss said: “It’s in our hands now. But we have two very tricky games in Ayrshire and there is still a lot of hard work to be done in order to achieve our goal.

“I thought this game would be the hardest of the three but all credit goes to the boys as they turned in a very professional performance, especially in the second half.

“Our club is only seven years old so to be in with a chance of competing in the top league is dream stuff.”

Stephen McGladrigan struck eight minutes in, pouncing on poor defending to rifle home from the edge of the box.

It took until the hour for Liam McGonigle to head No.2 after a mix-up in the Neilston defence. Gary Griffin got in on the act seconds after coming on with a strike from the edge of the box before Chris Duff curled home a screamer.

Ton co-boss Derek Carson dubbed it their “worst performance” since taking charge with Chris Cameron in November.

He said: “I hear people saying it’s the end of the season with nothing to play for but that doesn’t sit well with us.

“Football should be about personal pride and it’s not good enough to just accept that, which the players have been told in no uncertain terms.”
