DEES WANT KENNY TO LEAD REVIVAL

Chiefs eye hitman in hotseat after McIntyre gets the tin tack

KENNY MILLER is the man Dundee want to lead them back to the Premiership.

It’s understood Miller will take over after Jim McIntyre was axed yesterday – a week after the Dark Blues’ relegation was confirmed.

Former Scotland star Miller joined Dundee at the beginning of this season after leaving a playermanager role at Livingston.

He’s likely to combine the two roles again if he gets the Dens job – even at the age of 39.

Dundee decided to get rid of McIntyre yesterday, ironically after Miller’s winning goal gave them their first victory after 10 previous defeats in a row at Livingston on Saturday.

The Dark Blues went down last week and managing director John Nelms flew to the United States for crisis talks with owner Tim Keyes.

It’s understood he told Keyes that Miller is the man to lead Dundee forward.

The former Old Firm frontman is keen to be a gaffer and it was politics that led to his departure from Livingston last year.

He has the respect of the Dundee dressing room but there are poised to be massive changes if he takes control.

McIntyre took over after Neil McCann was let go in October last year when Dundee were bottom and he was unable to change the club’s fortunes.

He appointed youth coach Jimmy Boyle as his No.2 after supporters protested over his plan to bring in former player and assistant boss Billy Dodds for the right-hand-man role.

Dodds had been unpopular in the wake of the club’s administration in 2010.

And despite being backed by his board in January, McIntyre couldn’t stop Dundee being relegated.

A club statement said: “Dundee FC can confirm that Jim McIntyre and Jimmy Boyle have left the club with immediate effect.

“Jim came to the club in October last year and shortly after Jimmy was appointed as his assistant.

“The management team oversaw 31 matches in charge, with three victories, seven draws and 20 defeats.

“We’d like thank Jim and Jimmy for their efforts while in charge and we wish them all the best.”

Miller has coaching experience from his time at Rangers and his short spell at Livi.

And the Dundee hierarchy believe his standing in the game will be crucial to getting the team back in the Premiership.
