Man, 28, facing court after gun death of Bradley Welsh

A MAN has been charged over the murder of T2 Trainspott­ing actor Bradley Welsh.

The 48-year-old was shot dead as he walked down stairs to his £500,000 flat in Edinburgh’s west end on April 17.

Welsh – a close pal of Trainspott­ing author Irvine Welsh – was returning home from his Holyrood boxing gym when he was fatally injured.

Police confirmed last night that a 28-year-old man had been charged in connection with the actor’s death.

The accused man is also charged with an attempted BY RECORD REPORTER murder weeks earlier. That alleged incident happened at about 5.30pm on Wednesday, March 13 at a plush home in Pitcairn Grove in the south-west of the capital.

Businessma­n David McMillan, 48, was allegedly attacked with a blade. The victim’s 22-year-old son, also David, sustained a hand injury as he tried to intervene.

The attackers fled from the scene in the city’s Greenbank area in an Audi A5.

The vehicle was set ablaze in nearby Oxgangs.

The 28-year-old man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Police said: “A man has been charged in connection with the murder of 48-year-old Bradley Welsh in Chester Street, Edinburgh, on Wednesday, April 17. The 28-year-old will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, May 14.

“He is also charged with the attempted murder of a 48-year-old man and the serious assault of a 22-year-old man in Pitcairn Grove on Wednesday, March 13.

“Members of the public are thanked for their assistance with both of these investigat­ions.”
