Time for selfish toffs to get off our land
SIMON Fraser, the 16th Lord Lovat, has reminded us that the toffs still own Scotland.
Lovat, has been accused of blocking off a walk through a Highlands beauty spot because thousands of acres are not enough for one man.
He has allegedly removed a car park near Lovat Bridge, blocked off lay-bys with boulders and started placing unofficial parking tickets on cars parked in the area.
Lovat put up signs declaring “No parking, no picnics”, which is as palatable as a cow pat sandwich.
Walkers, families and the Beauly Walking Group, which is for older people, now have nowhere to park and must take to a busy road to access public trails on the land.
Absentee landlords, and the rich and the royal exploiting our land to shoot, hunt and entertain are a blight on our countryside.
A third of the UK still belongs to the aristocracy. It really is time we told them to get off our land.
