Police probe ‘illegal cull’ of 100 crows

-

POLICE are investigating the deaths of about 100 birds found floating on a loch, amid fears that they were illegally culled.

A dog walker at Loch Freuchie, west of Dunkeld, Perthshire, spotted the carcasses in the water.

Brenda Henderson, of Crieff, said: “They all looked like young crows. There must have been close to 100. It was quite alarming.

“It had to be a definite cull of some sort.”

Scottish Natural Heritage, which licenses the culling of crows and ravens in the area, urged anyone who witnesses wildlife crime to contact police. It has reported the incident to Police Scotland.
