A chainsaw artist’s bizarre take on Melania Trump has seen the US first lady join the ranks of celebrities who have been badly misrepresented in ‘creative’ works

A STATUE of US first lady Melania Trump has the art world scratching its head.

Carved out of a tree trunk outside her home town in Slovenia, it looks nothing like the 49-year-old ex-model.

The man behind it, US artist Brad Downey, has a history of poking fun with his artworks.

Downey, who has an exhibition in Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana, asked a local chainsaw artist, Ales Zupevc, to hack the BY ANNA BURNSIDE rough likeness of Mrs Trump out of a tree stump. It could be a political statement or an arty joke. Svenica is already cashing in on Melania’s roots in the town. Visitors can buy Melania cake and Trump burgers with a cheese comb-over. On the positive side, the first lady now joins an elite club of famous people who have been badly misrepresented by sculptors.
