Saints boss rocked by Liam injury blow
ST JOHNSTONE star Liam Gordon is facing up to six weeks out after fracturing his elbow in a freak training-ground accident yesterday.
The 23-year-old’s injury from a fall leaves boss Tommy Wright short of defensive options going into their Betfred Cup campaign.
Saints have captain Jason Kerr and Steven Anderson but beyond that the only real centrehalf cover they have is young Wallace Duffy. BY SCOTT BURNS Wright said: “This is hugely disappointing. The injury came from an innocent fall during training. It’s just extremely unfortunate.”
Wright was unable to sign trialists Tyler Garratt and Danzell Gravenberch because he wants to spend his remaining budget on re-signing Aberdeen’s Stevie May.
Number one Zander Clark’s considering an improved contract offer.
