Buddies given Go Ahead for Thomas

-

ST MIRREN boss Jim Goodwin is set to swoop for Go Ahead Eagles striker Thomas Verheydt.

The former Feyenoord kid will travel to Scotland for talks with the Buddies manager over the next 48 hours.

Verheydt scored 13 goals for Eagles last season but wants a return to British football after a spell with Crawley Town in 2017-18.

Goodwin is looking to add to his frontline and sees the height and BY SCOTT BURNS strength of the Dutchman, who’s also turned out for MVV, Jodan Boys and IJsselmeer, as the perfect foil for Danny Mullen or Cody Cooke.

The new Saints boss could also be in the hunt for a keeper if Qarabag decide to come back with an improved bid for Vaclav Hladky.

The Buddies knocked back a £200,000 offer from the Azerbaijan outfit earlier this month.
