MART: GERS TALKED TO MY AGENT

- BY alan marshall

MARTIN SKRTEL has confirmed talks have taken place with Rangers about a proposed move.

But he insists no decision has been made on his future as the Ibrox club near a deal for Swedish centre-half Filip Helander.

Former Liverpool defender Skrtel, left, has been a target for Steven Gerrard since his old Anfield team-mate took

FROM BACK PAGE over at Ibrox last summer. Record Sport exclusively revealed two weeks ago that talks were back on the table after he ran down his huge £60k-a-week contract. A move looks unlikely now with Helander set to join in a big-money deal but Skrtel admitted that talks had taken place between his agent and the club. He told Slovakian media: “There are offers but I’m not in a hurry to choose my new team. I have criteria and I have to be patient. “My agent had interviews with Basaksehir, Parma, Fenerbahce, Olympiacos and Rangers but I can’t say anything more.” Meanwhile, Helander is expected to undergo a medical today. The Bologna centreback will join on a fouryear deal for a fee believed to be around £3.5million and will be Gers’ most expensive signing since Nikica Jelavic joined from Rapid Vienna in 2010. Meanwhile, Progres Niederkorn gaffer Roland Vrabec has demanded his players don’t start thinking about Rangers after their Europa League win at Cork City. The Luxembourg minnows cruised to 2-0 win in the first qualifying round first leg and that looks enough to book a rematch with Gers. Progres sent the Govan men crashing out of Europe two years ago. German boss Vrabec said: “I’m happy with the result but I’m not thinking about the next round and neither are the players because I won’t allow them to.”
