She’s fined after assault on love rival over claims of fling with boyfriend
A BEAUTICIAN flew into a rage and punched a woman after hearing she was in a pub bathroom with her boyfriend.
Danielle Murphy, 28, assaulted Leigh Clark after being told she was being cheated on.
She stormed into a pub to confront her boyfriend and ended up attacking Leigh outside.
Andrew Lazzarin, prosecuting, told Ayr Sheriff Court: “The accused stated, ‘You should expect this every time you see me’. Others stepped in to prevent matters going any further.”
He added of Leigh: “She did not require to attend hospital but was feeling sick and went to her GP and was given painkillers and advised to rest.
“She had numerous bruising to her arms, legs and face.”
The incident happened in Murphy’s home town of Girvan, Ayrshire.
She was later traced by the police and Murphy admitted: “I did assault her by punches but not kicking.”
John Gallagher, defending, explained: “Danielle Murphy was at home and she received a BY ABI SMILLIE reporters@dailyrecord.co.uk phone call. She was given information that the complainer and her partner had been caught in a very compromising position in the bathroom.
“She went there with the intention of confronting her partner about that. She spoke to him and at that point, he denied that situation.
“As a consequence, she then sought out the complainer to see if she could get the truth. Unfortunately, her suspicions were indeed well founded.”
Gallagher claimed Murphy’s actions were “out of character”.
At the sentencing hearing, the solicitor told Sheriff Mhari Mactaggart: “She has accepted her guilt throughout but the kicking was always denied by her.
“There have been no difficulties between her and the complainer since, nor will there be.”
Sheriff Mactaggart told Murphy: “Whatever the background is, you’ve accepted your guilt of assaulting this lady and in any circumstance, I have to mark that.”
She fined Murphy £300.
