Charley: Aisle be fully focussed on a match made in golf heaven

1 DAY TO GO

-

BY MICHAEL GANNON at GLENEAGLES CHARLEY HULL insists her focus is on marching out on the first tee at Gleneagles rather than walking down the aisle.

The European ace is getting married to UK cage fighting champion Ozzie Smith next week but reckons Solheim Cup success would be the perfect hen do.

Hull said: “I had a tea party last weekend because I didn’t fancy going anywhere as I’m not really into partying anymore!

“I’ve just kind of left the wedding all to him to be fair. I said what I want. I’ve just let him deal with it all.

“I’ve been looking forward to this event for a long time because it’s on home soil. I’ve played in Europe but not really in Britain. Then I’m looking forward to next week too.

“I had four busy weeks. I played Evian, British and Scottish and I played in Ireland. I decided to take three weeks off, rest up and just do a lot of practice.”

Hull admits this week’s Solheim Cup will be some scrap but it won’t be like cage fighting. She said: “It’s more like a football match on the first tee with the crowd wand everything. You just have to go out there with a strong mindset.

“If my fiance was a golfer he’d be good at match-play.”

Euro captain Catriona Matthew insists leading her side to Solheim success would top her British Open triumph and the team are determined to make that dream a reality.

Georgia Hall, who emulated her skipper’s Major success last season, said: “It must mean she wants this more than anything in life.

“She’s an incredible captain. Being at home is very special for her.

“We’ll have the home crowd which is massive, especially on the first tee all cheering for Europe.

“And we have a Scottish captain. So we really do have the full package.”
