Beeb bans Craig from calling his new wine ‘Fab-u-lous’
BBC bosses have banned Craig Revel Horwood from calling his new wine collection “Fab-u-lous” after his famous Strictly Come Dancing catchphrase.
The bitchy panellist said: “They own that!”
Craig is planning to launch his own wine and champagne label next year.
The booze will come from a vineyard he has on his eight-acre estate in Hampshire.
So far he has yet to confirm the name of his new range.
But one suggestion is definitely off the list.
Craig is not permitted to make money from any of his famous catchphrases he uses on the hit BBC show – such as “Fab-u-lous”.
He said: “We have not announced the name of the wine yet. It may be called Fab-u-lous. But the BBC own that.”
Last night, the BBC claimed it had not received any formal request from Craig to use “Fab-u-lous” on his range of wines.
But a spokesman explained that even if he did, it would not be allowed.
He said: “Strictly talent agree not to undertake any commercial activities which imitate or pass off the programme by replicating any editorial elements or replication of their on-air role.
“This includes any iconic Strictly phrases being used for commercial associations.”
A source added: “This rule applies to everyone on the show. Len Goodman could never have marketed T-shirts saying, ‘It’s a 10 from Len’ and ‘Sevvverrrrn’.”
Strictly is on tonight on BBC One at 7pm.
