Trudeau quip earns laughs for Lenny
SIR Lenny Henry made fun of the Canadian prime minster’s brownface scandal when he appeared on stage yesterday and announced: “I am Justin Trudeau.”
Trudeau, 47, has apologised after three images surfaced of him in dark face paint, including a yearbook photo from an Arabian Nights costume party in 2001.
Comedian and actor Henry, 61, speaking at a Royal Television Society event, drew laughs with the quip.
Trudeau responded to the controversy on Twitter, writing: “What I did was hurtful to people who live with intolerance and discrimination every day.
“I know that I let a lot of people down and I am deeply sorry.”
