Stars join forces to rehome hard-hit military heroes

THE Chase’s Shaun Wallace and M People singer Heather Small are backing a project to rehome military veterans who have hit hard times.

The stars are supporting Homeless Worldwide, set up by Jenny Roberts after her brother Darren Ledger died on the streets in 2017.

She didn’t find out about his death for three months BY OLIVER PRITCHARD and aims to ensure that other families don’t suffer the same fate.

Music PR Jenny said: “Homelessne­ss is such a huge issue that I had to do something.”

The project is in collaborat­ion with South Tyneside Council and the Supporting Lives group in Newcastle.

It began with 14 beds in South Shields in August and aims to offer 50 by the end of the year.

Moving On Up singer Heather said: “When we send our men and women to put life and limb in danger, the least we can do is look after them on their return.

“The foundation is about making people aware of what it’s truly like to be homeless.”
