Vandals hit bike scheme

A BIKE hire scheme in Edinburgh is to scrap its dockless stations due to high rates of vandalism.

Just Eat Cycles said 100 of its 500 bikes were damaged and 50 have gone missing. Bikes are left freestanding in the stations but are immobilised using internal locks.

Charles Graham, of Just Eat Cycles, said: “Initially, people were trying to steal the bikes but that changed to wanton destruction – they were hit with hammers and cones.”
