KELTY HEARTS ....... 0 AUCHINLECK ......... 3

AUCHINLECK boss Tommy Sloan hailed his special stars as they swept aside Kelty Hearts to reach the second round.

Junior giants Talbot – who were knocked out in the fifth round by Hearts last season then won the Junior Cup– strolled it with goals from Craig McCracken, Keir Samson and Mark Shankland.

Sloan said: “We came to a tough place and won really convincingly.

“We’ve good players at the top end, they’re a bit special at this level. We’ll take whatever comes in the next round and hopefully it is a home draw.”

In front of the BBC cameras, Talbot never looked back after taking the lead in the 20 minute, McCracken rising in the box to head Shankland’s free-kick home.

Samson then had an easy tap-in a minute before the break after Kelty’s Danny Ashe was punished for a poor defensive header back to keeper Ben MacKenzie.

The victory was sealed five minutes after the restart when Shankland looped a header over MacKenzie from close range after Gordon Pope’s set-piece. STEVIE HISLOP insists Broxburn Athletic’s first Scottish Cup campaign has been made even more special by being paired with his first senior club East Stirling.

The East of Scotland side’s assistant said: “This is a huge game for the club and for me but I have to put my feelings for them to the side and push Broxburn towards a win.”

Fellow Cup new boys Penicuik Athletic head to Cumbernauld Colts with Hill of Beath Hawthorn travelling to Gretna 2008.

Civil Service Strollers are making the longest trip with a 370-mile journey to and from Buckie Thistle.
