Tierney off and running with an hour at Gunners

-

BY MARK McDOUGALL SCOTLAND star Kieran Tierney lasted an hour on his return to football for Arsenal Under-23s.

The full-back started his first game in red and white since a £25million move from Celtic as the young Gunners took on Wolves.

Tierney lined up at leftback as he builds fitness ahead of a first-team debut for Unai Emery’s men.

His side took the lead in just 60 seconds when Folarin Balogun opened the scoring.

It was 1-1 when he was replaced, with Bruno Jordao scoring for Wolves.

Steve Bould decided to hook Tierney for the final half an hour and protect him from any setbacks before Balogun put his side back in front.

It didn’t all go brilliantly for Tierney with a booking in 53 minutes.

The match was his first at any level of football since he limped off in Celtic’s win over Aberdeen in May.

Since then he has had surgery on his groin and a hernia problem.
