1 After the first round of Europa League group stage matches how are Celtic and Rangers placed to make progress?
CLUJ have already thrown a spanner in the works by beating Lazio but if Celtic can win their home games they will give themselves a fighting chance. Likewise Rangers have got off to a flyer and if they can win their three games at Ibrox then there should be real optimism that they can both progress. BOTH are placed very well. Rangers made the ideal start with a home win and Celtic’s point in Rennes was a good one. It was a fine beginning. RANGERS have opened the door to Group G but progress will depend on making sure Ibrox is their platform for points as well as pinching a point or two on the road. The same applies to Celtic and that draw is a boost to their chances as the win for Cluj over Lazio has blown their group wide open.
