We’ll show our Methil in big clash

-

CHRIS HIGGINS insists East Fife are a match for anyone in the division as they gear up for a trip to face title favourites Falkirk on Saturday.

The Methil men are undefeated in the league this season and Higgins says confidence is high around the club.

Defender Higgins said: “Falkirk are one of the few teams in the league who are full-time and have a massive squad.

“They are starting to motor a bit and find the consistency you need to go and win the league but we have nothing to fear.

“We’ll go into the game as underdogs but we’re sitting at the top end of the league with them and Raith so we need to let everybody know we’re a good side.”

East Fife had to battle from 2-0 down against Dumbarton to preserve their unbeaten record.

The Sons opened the scoring through Ryan McGeever’s header while Isaac Layne’s penalty made it 2-0.

East Fife pulled one back when Stewart Murdoch turned in a Scott Agnew free-kick and Agnew levelled from the spot after Morgyn Neill was penalised for his foul on Steven Boyd.

Home boss Darren Young said: “Dumbarton were a bogey team for us last season so the character from the boys was great.”

Sons boss Jim Duffy said: “East Fife put us under a lot of pressure in the second half and we didn’t show enough calmness on the ball. But when you get yourself 2-0 up you’re disappointed to Raith Rovers East Fife Falkirk Forfar Airdrie Dumbarton Clyde Peterhead Stranraer Montrose P 7 7 7 7 7 7 7 7 7 7 GD Pts 9 15 8 15 12 14 0 10 -2 10 -4 10 1 9 -3 9 -11 4 -10 1 Airdrie 0, Raith 1 East Fife 2, Dumbarton 2 Forfar 2, Montrose 0 Peterhead 1, Clyde 1 Stranraer 0, Falkirk 3 (Saturday, 3pm) Airdrie v Stranraer Dumbarton v Clyde Falkirk v East Fife Forfar v Raith Rovers Montrose v Peterhead lose two points.” Raith returned to the top of the table after Grant Anderson turned home a Kyle Benedictus cross in the 55th minute for a 1-0 win at Airdrie.

David McMillan’s firsthalf header and goals after the break from Charlie Telfer and Morgaro Gomis saw Falkirk cruise past Stranraer 3-0.

Goals from Mark Docherty and Jamie Bain gave Forfar a 2-0 win over Montrose to help ease boss Jim Weir’s recovery from a car crash.

Clyde’s David Goodwillie cancelled out Derek Lyle’s early opener for Peterhead but the former Scotland striker was later red-carded for a foul on David Ferguson.
