It’s Miller’s time in the big cup
ZANDER MILLER lit up Broxburn’s first Scottish Cup tie by netting a hat-trick as Lowland League visitors East Stirling were beaten 3-2.
Miller scored twice in the opening 15 minutes but Nicky Low’s free-kick brought Shire alive just before the break.
Andy Rodgers looked to have earned a first-round replay when he scored in 85 minutes. However, Miller lobbed home the winner in injury time.
Miller said: “I could not have asked for any more.
“It felt like the full town was here which shows being in the Scottish Cup is a big thing for the club.”
Penicuik have also entered second-round territory for the first time after a 5-1 demolition of hosts Cumbernauld Colts.
Cuikie led 3-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Aaron Somerville, Craig Stevenson and Aaron Ponton.
Craig Holmes pulled one back before Sean Stewart and Sam Jones completed the scoring.
After ending a 73-game wait for a win last month Fort William picked up their third success of the season when they blew away visitors Vale of Leithen 5-0.
Jordan Andrew opened the scoring early on and Bobby Nevison added a second at the start of the second half.
Ross Gunn shot home a double and Roddy Kennedy wrapped it up before Vale’s Lewis Hall was dismissed.
In the other Highland v Lowland League clashes Bonnyrigg’s George Hunter scored a last-gasp goal to knock Fraserburgh out 1-0 at Bellsea but Civil Service Strollers’ journey home from Buckie was a long one after a 4-1 defeat.
Thistle’s Hamish Munro, Andrew Macaskill, Kevin Fraser and Craig Cowie were on target with Cammy Muirhead’s penalty the only consolation for the visitors
Ali Sutherland and Craig Cormack scored doubles as Rothes won 4-3 at Caledonian Braves with Callum Heath’s goal decisive as Stirling University won 3-2 at Keith.
