and Lennon reckons it gives managers a chance to cool off.

He said: “It’s great! It’s like a warning to calm down.

“Bobby is a great official. I was talking recently about not losing my temper. I didn’t lose it that badly but you get a warning and that’s it.”

Lennon took his punishment but the late controversy didn’t ruin his day after the Celtic boss raved about his side picking up maximum points on the back of Thursday’s Europa League draw in Rennes.

Celtic were forced to come from behind after Killie striker Eamonn Brophy stunned the champions on the break.

But Odsonne Edouard fired a double and Ryan Christie added a third before Fraser Forster saved the late spot-kick after Scott Brown had tripped Osman Sow.

Lennon said: “That was a superb performance. The scoreline flattered Killie at half-time. They had one real chance, if you even want to call it an attack, and a good goal from Brophy.

“Before that we had peppered Kilmarnock’s goal and they are a good side. We hit the post and worked the keeper on a number of occasions. We merited the equaliser.

“We just asked for more of the same in the second half. Some of the play for 15 to 20 minutes after halftime was outstanding.

“Off the back of a really good performance in Rennes on Thursday night, they have cemented the league form with a brilliant display.”

Lennon was impressed with Moritz Bauer a his first start and while the on-loan Stoke defender and Christopher Jullien limped off, he revealed the pair were not seriously injured.

He said: “Bauer comes in and has an excellent debut. The two centre halves are really good players.”
