Owner stabbed on morning park walk
BY DANIEL MORROW reporters@dailyrecord.co.uk A DOG-WALKER was seriously hurt yesterday when two thugs stabbed him and tried to steal his pet.
The victim, 29, was attacked as he took an early morning park stroll with his Cane Corso dog.
Police are treating the stabbing as attempted murder.
The thugs approached the man in Dawsholm Park, Maryhill, Glasgow, at about 7am and tried to take his dog.
They stabbed him before running off towards Dawsholm Road.
The victim was taken to the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where his condition yesterday was described as serious.
The large black dog, which was uninjured, was found near the scene of the attack and is now being looked after by its owner’s relatives.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the attack to get in touch.
Detective Sergeant Alistair Donaldson said: “Officers have been carrying out inquiries in the park and are viewing CCTV footage to establish more information on the two men responsible for this violent attack.
“This park is very popular with dog walkers and I would appeal to anyone who was in the park about 7am who witnessed this incident or saw these two men acting suspiciously before or after the attack to get in touch.”
