NEW SERVICE FOR THE MEN IN SUITS

-

HIGH street chain Moss Bros is launching a new suit rental service. Unlike its hire business, which uses pre-worn clothing, customers will get a suit fresh off the peg. You’ll pay a premium but, if you like it, you can buy it outright when it’s returned. Moss Bros boss Brian Brick said: “It’s a bit like try before you buy.” If customers don’t buy the rented suit after they’ve worn it, it will be sold as secondhand. Brick said the service, to be launched as a trial in November, was aimed especially at younger people who prefer to rent rather than own things. Moss Bros has also launched an eco-suit (pictured) which uses a polyester fabric made from up to 45 plastic bottles that would otherwise end up in landfill sites. The move came as the company announced that sales rose 1.4 per cent to £65million in the six months to July 27, although profits slipped to just above break-even. It also ditched its interim dividend, arguing that the money saved should be invested back in the business.
