BLOCK & TACKLE

Suspicious Coleen ‘snubbed Rebekah online’ before plotting to ‘snare’ her

Coleen was sure Vardy was to blame but blocking her wouldn’t cut it

SOURCE CLOSE TO COLEEN TELLS WHY THE WAG HATCHED HER PLOT

COLEEN Rooney’s cunning plot to “catch” Rebekah Vardy leaking private stories about her followed an earlier run-in between the two WAGs, a source claims.

Mum-of-four Coleen had become so suspicious of Rebekah that she blocked her on social media at the start of the year – only for Rebekah to confront her demanding to know why, it was claimed.

According to a pal of Rebekah, Coleen claimed it was a mistake and blamed it on her kids. The friend revealed: “Becky said, ‘Have I offended you?’ Coleen swore blind she hadn’t.”

But sources close to Coleen, 33, said she had been privately worried Rebekah was in cahoots with a newspaper.

A source said: “Coleen was convinced Vardy was to blame but had to get the evidence first. Blocking her wasn’t going to cut the mustard... she needed proof.”

It was then that she hatched her plan. First she blocked everyone except Rebekah from being able to view her private Instagram stories.

Then – as she revealed in an explosive online statement this week – she posted fake stories about “gender selection in Mexico, returning to TV, and the basement flooding in my new house”, which all ended up in a newspaper.

Coleen suspects further stories were also leaked.

A source said: “Coleen thinks there are other stories that were passed to the media other than the three mentioned in her public statement. She is sure of it.”

These include a supposed car crash in America in January in which she was said to have “narrowly avoided injury”.

Coleen – wife of ex-England captain Wayne – said at the time: “The car crash story was completely wrong.

“I wasn’t involved in a crash – the car was damaged by another car. Someone on my private Instagram has seen the picture and is telling or selling stories to a certain newspaper.”

A source close to Rebekah said they were aware of the story in question but that it had nothing to do with her.

The pal added: “They’ve put two and two together and come up with five.”

After Coleen’s statement on Wednesday, she and Rebekah exchanged a series of angry messages and calls.

A source said: “They were communicating all day, mainly via WhatsApp.

“Coleen gave her short shrift and Becky wasn’t holding back either. She couldn’t believe Coleen had made their row public without speaking to her first.”

Rebekah was lying low at home yesterday after cutting short a holiday to return to the Lincolnshire mansion she shares with Leicester City striker husband Jamie.

Police visited the eight-bedroom home near Grantham due to the media attention on the couple.

Rebekah, 37, who denies the claims against her, tweeted: “I’m not saying anything more until we’ve finished looking into this situation properly.”

She has hired forensic IT experts to prove her innocence.

The WAG, who is seven months

pregnant with her fifth child, also shared vile online messages and threats she had received from members of the public towards her and her unborn baby.

One read: “F*** you sly c**t I hope that baby dies you b***h.”

In her statement on Wednesday, Coleen said: “For a few years now someone who I trusted to follow me on my personal Instagram account has been consistently informing The Sun newspaper of my private posts and stories. There has been so much information given to them about me, my friends and my family – all without my permission or knowledge.

“After a long time of trying to figure out who it could be, for various reasons, I had a suspicion.

“It’s been tough keeping it to myself and not making any comment at all, especially when the stories have been leaked. However, I had to.

“Now I know for certain which account/individual it’s come from. I have saved and screenshotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person has viewed them. It’s... Rebekah Vardy’s account.”

Denying the allegations, former I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star Rebekah suggested someone else could have been using her account to view Coleen’s Instagram stories.

In a message to Coleen demanding to know why she made her claims online instead of to her face, Rebekah said: “If you thought this was happening you could have told me and I could have changed my passwords to see if it stopped. Over the years, various people have had access to my Insta and just this week I found I was following people I didn’t know and have never followed.”

She added: “I’m not being funny but I don’t need the money – what would I gain from selling stories on you?”

Rebekah said she was “so upset” and “disgusted that I’m even having to deny this”.

She went on: “You should have called me the first time this happened.”

Coleen’s spokesman said: “It is irrefutable that the leaks came from one account, and one account only.”
