Will Isa be game?

STILL Game could return with Jack and Victor replaced by Victoria and Jacqueline, says show co-creator Ford Kiernan.

Some might see that as a victory for female representation on our screens. But we’re not sure what Isa would make of the competition…

STILL Game stars Jack and Victor could return – as Jacqueline and Victoria.

The last ever Still Game was performed last night at the Hydro in Glasgow.

But stars and creators Greg Hemphill and Ford Kiernan have teased fans by suggesting the show could come back – but with two female leads.

Ford said: “Maybe it could be Jacqueline and Victoria. We could get two lassies to come and play it. That’s not a bad idea, is it?”

Greg also revealed that Jack Jarvis and Victor McDade could reappear in a prequel played by younger actors.

Greg said: “I quite like the idea of in five or 10 years’ time, two young whippersnappers come to us and say we want to play Jack and Victor – then they would never die, like Bond. We’re not the only people that could play those parts.”

Greg and Ford staged a tearful farewell show last night, which saw the duo close the curtain for the last time on their run of 15 shows at the SSE Hydro.

Ford, Greg and the rest of their gang are taking a much-deserved break following the last of the performances.

And although they have announced that Still Game in its current form has now reached the end, they admit they are open to their characters returning in a different way in years to come.

Still Game wouldn’t be the first show to see the main characters change gender.

Doctor Who last year introduced the first female Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker. There have also been calls for Bond to become Jane Bond.

Ford and Greg say they are looking forward to time off following the Hydro shows before they start talking about new ideas.

Greg, who recently celebrated his 20th wedding anniversary, said: “There’s other things we want to do now seperately.”

Ford added: “We’re chomping at the bit for new people to come in.

“We need a new sitcom. We’re not going to look at one any time soon, though, because people take time to adjust.”
