CROAT WANTS NEW EURO HERO TALES
BORNA BARISIC has heard the legendary tales of Rangers in Europe but he’s convinced the current side are starting to pen a few new ones of their own.
The Croatia star was just a kid when the Ibrox club were in the Champions League and going all the way to the UEFA Cup Final over a decade ago.
And after Gers took a giant step towards the Europa League knockout stages with a draw in Porto on Thursday night, Barisic said: “I was too young to remember but I have heard and read a lot about past Rangers teams.
“I think we are getting back to that level as a club and if we keep progressing we will be back in the Champions League. Everyone is happy because we were very disappointed after Hearts last week but we produced a very good performance all over the pitch.
“To be honest I woke up feeling a little bit disappointed we didn’t take all three points. We were good enough for the win but we can still be satisfied because it was a decent result.
“It shows how far we have come with Europe. Last year we almost got through the group stages and we want to see where we are this year.
“We’d produced good displays against Feyenoord and we didn’t deserve to lose to Young Boys in Switzerland.
“Now we have played a
Porto team who were in the Champions League quarter finals last season.
“Okay, they might not be at that level right now but they are still a very good team.
“I’m happy but I really don’t like to speak about my performance. The whole team deserves respect and we performed all over the pitch.
“I am probably playing the best I have since coming for Osijek but there is much more to come from me.”
