Derby rout a ‘freak’ of nature only seen once

-

DEFIANT Dundee defender Jordon Forster insists their derby drubbing was a “freak” result as he warned United they are ready for revenge.

The Dark Blues were left shellshocked in August after suffering a 6-2 Tannadice thrashing in front of the TV cameras.

The city rivals will be reunited on Friday at Dens Park, with both sides having won their last three games on the spin.

Forster, part of the team that beat Morton 2-1 in Friday evening’s kick-off, said: “When you look back at the last derby, it was a bit of a freak one.

“It’s never nice to concede that number of goals in any game and lose like that, let alone in a derby.

“But it’s happened and we need to accept that. We have a point to go and prove this time and it’s been the perfect set-up with these three wins under our belt.”

Unlike the last derby, Dundee boss James McPake will be able to call on former Rangers midfielder Graham Dorrans following his September move.

Forster added: “He really is different class.

“He brings that extra bit of composure to the team. He’s joined in well with the rest of the boys and has settled in well.

“We’re about to see the best of him. I’m sure he’s played in a lot of big games in his career.

“Of course this will be a test for him. It would be a test for anyone. But I’m sure he’ll have the tools in the locker to deal with the pressure and what comes with the occasion.”

Sub Jamie Ness’ 80th-minute strike against Ton ensured Dee leapfrogged Inverness into third.

Forster said: “Over the last four or five weeks we’ve playing really well for 60 minutes but then when we maybe weren’t on top of the game we started to struggle a little bit. But I now think you’re finding that we’ve found a way to dominate games for longer spells.”
