This year, you’ll find Santa popping up in surprising and spectacula­r places,

THERE’S nothing like meeting Santa to get you into the festive spirit so pull on your Christmas jumper, round up the reindeer and head to your nearest grotto for some seasonal fun.

Gone are the days when a date with the big man in red meant sitting on the knee of a fake-beard wearing actor and telling him your Christmas wishes – Santa experience­s have gone cosmic.

From boat, tractor and train rides to feeding Rudolf and his pals, a meet and greet with Saint Nick can be spectacula­r.

Here we take a look at a few of Scotland’s most innovative grotto encounters.

DOBBIES GARDEN CENTRES

Stores across the nation are gearing up for their Christmas extravagan­za and Santa Claus himself should be arriving any day now.

Each garden centre offers its own unique magical setting for kids to explore which leads to a log cabin where Father Christmas will be waiting with good cheer and a great gift.

Breakfast and tea with Santa is also available at various dates throughout November and December, where you can enjoy top scran before a visit from the big man.

SANTA’S WOODLAND EXPERIENCE – NORTH BALLOCHRUI­N FARM, STIRLING

YOU will be taken on a tractor ride through 14 acres of fairy-lit woodland to a cosy cabin where children choose a present and have a chat with Santa about what you want him to fill your stockings with this year.

The tractor then takes you to a byre with hot drinks and food on offer, rustled up by butchers Skinner of Kippen.

MRS CLAUS AT POLLOK HOUSE – POLLOKSHAW­S, GLASGOW

WHY not join Mrs Claus for some festive fun at one of Scotland’s prettiest stately homes? Spend time with Santa’s better half in front of the roaring fire and share with her your Christmas wishes, which she will pass on to her husband. WALK WITH SANTA – HIGHLAND WILDLIFE PARK, KINCRAIG

A TRIP to the Highlands is the perfect way to meet Santa and his herd of reindeer. After visiting Mr Claus in his grotto, you will help him feed the forest reindeer.
