LAMIE LEFT IN SWEAT AT HOLT LINKS

-

LIVINGSTON defender Ricki Lamie is keeping his fingers crossed boss Gary Holt is not lured away by Kilmarnock.

Killie fan Holt, a part of their 1997 Scottish Cup-winning team, has emerged as a leading candidate for the vacancy after Angelo Alessio’s sacking.

Holt led Livi to a ninth-place finish last term and they are sitting eighth at the moment.

Lamie said: “I’m sure he’s flattered given his connection with the club and I’m sure that’s why he is linked with it.

“He was obviously linked with the job in the summer as well.

“He’s done brilliantly with us and it’s no surprise given his affiliation with Kilmarnock that his name has been bandied about.

“The gaffer and Davie Martindale work well together, it’s a good combination. The gaffer’s a laidback character and he loves getting in among all the banter with the boys.

“I think that’s why we do so well, it’s a really good spirit right throughout the club with the staff and players alike and that’s the recipe for the success we’ve had.

“Long may it continue. We’d be keen to keep it going and it would never be nice to upset that combination. We’ll

wait and see what happens.”

‘It’s a strange move to sack a manager who has us sitting in the top six and appeared to be getting a handle on Scottish game’

Robbo’s got the world at his feet regime when he left Killie at the start of the season, claiming the Italian spent too long on tactics and that players felt their fitness was suffering as a result. Pressley said: “For me the biggest aspect in the modernday manager is finding the balance between working on tactical elements but equally on the psychological positioning of the players. “Training has a huge impact on the dressing room. Some modern coaching forgets about why players wanted to play the game in the first place. You must find the balance.” the top six and appeared to be getting a handle on the Scottish game. The results in recent weeks haven’t been great but that has coincided with injuries to key players, especially in defence. Clearly the players rule the roost at Rugby Park and they’ve applied pressure to get Alessio sacked but I would have given him until at least the end of this season.”

Now more reaction to Alfredo Morelos and his red card on Sunday for gestures made to Motherwell fans.

said: “The faux outrage at the behaviour shown towards Morelos sums up today’s game. We’re asking fans to show respect towards players yet bending over backwards to excuse the boorish behaviour of players.

“There would have been no coins thrown in Paisley or Bovril at Motherwell if this petulant young boy, who suddenly seems amazingly adept at English, hadn’t decided to run towards opposition fans to celebrate.”

said: “There seems to be a queue of Rangers fans having a go at me for stating Morelos can’t score against Celtic. Four or five games you can argue for but zero goals in 11 games is undeniable proof he isn’t good enough to score against the champions.”

said: “Please stop printing all this nonsense about Morelos being a Rangers great. True Rangers greats were guys I saw scoring hundreds more goals and never got sent of six times in their entire careers.

“Morelos will be gone in January to some billionaire EPL club desperate to find a goalscorer and Steven Gerrard must sign Lawrence Shankland who has great potential to be a big star at Ibrox.”

said: “There’s rubbish being written Morelos will fire Rangers to the title but he couldn’t score in an empty net against Celtic.”
