Alessio sacking shows no one is safe says Robbo

-

MOTHERWELL boss Stephen Robinson has warned that Angelo Alessio’s sacking at Kilmarnock proves no manager is safe in the ruthless football world.

The Northern Irishman voiced heartfelt sympathy for the Italian who was axed on Tuesday after just 22 matches in charge and just days before the two sides meet.

Robinson is preparing his side to take on Killie in Ayrshire this afternoon with Alex Dyer placed in interim charge of the Rugby Park team.

And Robinson said: “The news came as a massive surprise. When you see another manager losing his job you always feel for them.

“This industry is ruthless at times.

“People forget we are human. I feel sorry for him. I don’t know what happened there but it didn’t look too bad from the outside being in fifth place.

“It proves no one is safe in football. I am in a lucky position. I have the support of the board and the fans have been good to me.”

The Well gaffer is wary of facing a hurting Kilmarnock side although coming up against teams who have just changed manager is nothing new for his side this season.

He said: “It seems to be every time we play someone they have a new manager or they have just appointed someone.

“We played Hibs in Jack Ross’ first match in charge as well.

“It is a merry go round of football.

“I know Alex Dyer well and I have a lot of respect for him. He is a very good coach and will have their team organised.

“Killie are a hard side to break down.”
