It’s all Greek to Hollywood star Hanks

TOM Hanks may officially consider himself Greek.

Greece’s president Prokopis Pavlopoulo­s has signed an honorary naturalisa­tion order allowing the 63-year-old to claim Greek citizenshi­p.

Hanks frequently spends summers on the Greek island of Antiparos and his wife, actress and producer Rita Wilson, is of Greek and Bulgarian ancestry.

Under Greek law, honorary naturalisa­tion may be granted to people “whose naturalisa­tion serves the public interest”.

A 60-year-old woman was last night fighting for her life with a serious head injury following the smash in Bearsden, near Glasgow, on Thursday afternoon.

Six others were injured after a Land Rover ploughed into the group on Manse Road. Two women, aged 21 and 65, and a 15-year-old boy are in a serious but stable condition.

Another two women, aged 45 and 52, and a 50-year-old man suffered minor injuries.

The 64-year-old female driver was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary as a precaution.

All seven pedestrian­s were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The road was closed for several hours while accident investigat­ors tried to establish what happened.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed it to contact them.
